For two decades — from 1989 to 2009 — Bonaventure wasn’t just a metro stop. It was the gateway home.

Twice a year, I’d board the Chaleur train from Montreal’s Central Station, nestled just beyond this station’s corridors.

With a packed lunch and a heart full of anticipation, I’d settle into my sleeper car, fall asleep under the hum of motion, and awaken to the familiar light of Chandler, Gaspé.

These departures — and arrivals — were rituals of reconnection. Bonaventure reminds me of the journey back to where it all began.
